MATHEMATICS DEPARTMENT
The overall goal of the Mathematics Department at Pathfinder is to teach our students to be able to problem solve in high school and beyond. We follow the Massachusetts State Frameworks and use its “Standards for Mathematical Practice” to deliver our content in a manner that is consistent with other schools across the state. While taking math courses at Pathfinder students will learn to:
- Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them.
- Reason abstractly and quantitatively.
- Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others.
- Model with mathematics.
- Use appropriate tools strategically.
- Attend to precision.
- Look for and make use of structure.
- Look for and express regularity in repeated reasoning.
